industry will continue to
provide solid returns and
our sale results reflect the
confidence our clients have
in our rams to deliver the
best results for their lamb
production," Geoff said.

RECORDS and the Leahcim Poll Merino Stud at
Snowtown seem to go hand in hand and this year's
sale was no exception.
A new on-property SA state record price of
$38,000 was set when Leahcim 111355 was pur-
chased by Chad Burbidge, Murray Bridge, and
Gary Ferguson, Tintinara, representing the Supe-
rior Wool Syndicate.
This price was $7000 above the previous SA on-
property record of $31,000 set by Lorelmo,
Willalooka, and was $13,000 better than Leahcim's
previous high individual ram price of $25,000.
Sired by Leahcim 080187, the new record
priced ram had wonderful Merino select wool and
carcase figures across the board, highlighted by a
yearling fleece weight breeding value of +24 and
eye muscle breeding value of +0.5.
Leahcim principal Andrew Michael was
delighted with this year's result, with 196 of the 200
rams on offer selling for a $2123 average.
Rob Germein, of Port Vincent, purchased seven
rams at a $1943 average, selecting all in the first
half of the catalogue and topping at $3500. Rundle
Farming Props, Kulpara, purchased five rams.
In thanking buyers, Andrew said he was excited
about the future of the industry and, with
Leahcim's productive commercial focus, he was
particularly pleased to see commercial clients get
good rams at value prices this year.

A FARM fire unit infor-
mation evening will be
held at Port Broughton on
Friday, October 19.
The free event will be
held at the Port Broughton
sporting clubrooms and is
for all interested farmers
"Farmers are a pretty
integral part of what the
CFS do and we don't have
a lot of the resources to
combat fires without
them," Port Broughton
Country Fire Service
brigade member Matthew
"Quite often we will get
to a fire and farmers will
have it out or under con-
trol so we want to inform
them of what we need
them to do.
"It's not so much how to
fight a fire but in the case
of a prolonged incident
they come under our duty
of care so we have to look
after them and know
where they are and what
they are doing.
"It's an information ses-
sion for landholders and
farmers about what they
can expect for not only
small fires but longer-last-
ing fires too."
