A GREAT NIGHT OUT FOR THE WHOLE FAMILY
CELEBRATING Christmas with a big
street party has been a tradition at
Ardrossan for decades, and this year
is no exception with the parade to roll
down the town's main street on
Friday, December 21.
Kids who grew up taking part and
running around with water pistols,
eating donuts and whispering last
minute wishes to Father Christmas
are now part of the organising
committee, intent on bringing the
same joy and creating memories for a
whole new generation of children.
The jolly old man in the red suit
plays a big part in those memories,
and although it is a very busy time of
the year for him he hasn't missed an
Ardrossan Street Party yet!
He'll be back again offering good
wishes and providing about 200
children with a free gift each.
He's seen a lot of changes over the
years. His temporary Ardrossan home
has been anything from a converted
hockey goal to a custom-built tin
house complete with snow-covered
roof, and he's arrived in the Country
Fire Service truck, a three-wheeled
Vespa, a ute and his own sleigh.
The involvement of the Ardrossan
Progress Association and Ardrossan
Traders has meant the street party
has evolved into a major event which
this year will include a parade of
classic cars, floats, decorated bikes
and fancy dress, live music and street
stalls, with face painting and jumping
castles for the kids.
There's certainly no need to go
hungry with this year's menu to
include prawn kebabs, steak
sandwiches, sausages, baked
potatoes, donuts, gelati, ice-cream,
strawberries and more.
The party starts at 6pm with the
parade, and it's a great night to kick
back, relax and catch up with family
and friends for some Christmas cheer.

MOONTA Mitre 10 and
an Adelaide-based scooter
company are pairing up to
raise money for Lucy's
Champions for Hope.
Matt Hopkins, from
Moonta Mitre 10, said the
connection with Krunkit,
a scooter company from
West Beach, was made
when his store started
purchasing the occasional
part from Krunkit.
"We started buying
parts from Krunkit mostly
to fix up my son's and
other scooters and we
ended up buying that
much we put their gear in
the shop," Matt explained.
"Krunkit has some
sponsored riders and they
are coming up for a demo
on Sunday, December 16,
and we decided we would
use it to raise some money
"We've helped the foun-
dation with a few things
like raffles in the past and
we thought we could help
raise a few dollars again."
The demo will be held
at the Moonta Skate Park
from 2pm with admission
a gold coin donation.
Cans of drinks and a
sausage sizzle will be on
sale for $2 and all pro-
ceeds go to Lucy's
Champions for Hope,
raising money for
Moonta's Lucy Hancocks,
who suffers from Parry
Romberg Syndrome, to
undergo extensive facial
