T COASTCARE... Fun in the Sun coastal edu-
cation activities are continuing on Yorke

JANUARY 1973: Henry Moyses retires from the staff of J.
O. K. Price and Sons, Kadina, after spending 51 years as a
butcher. Geoff Hill, of Paskeville, suffers a broken neck in a
water-skiing accident at Port Vincent on New Year’s Day.
Firefighters Graham Smith, Allan Cross, Trevor Hicks, Lewis
Tremelling and Doug Cross help stop a fire before it spreads to
adjoining paddocks in Kadina. Julie-Anne Squire is born to
Margaret and Bruce Squire at Moonta on January 5. Binni
Club members Catherine Pridham, Paskeville, Andrea Tape,
Coobowie, and Deidre Moyses, Bute, send in riddles.
Ardrossan Bowling Club starts its centenary celebrations.
Garry Mowbray, 17, of Wallaroo Mines, breaks both his legs in
a car accident at the intersection of Lipson Road and Port
Road, Kadina. Ardrossan branch of St John Ambulance
Service thanks Mr A. L. Prichard who is leaving the district.

JANUARY 1983: Former Alford farmer Harold Young
becomes Sir Harold. Wallaroo Basketball Club members
Janice Westlake, Mary Anne Duncan and Stephanie Flint enter
the Wallaroo Regatta raft race. YP Barley Queen entrants from
Maitland are Helene Komoll, 23, Debbie Marshall, 21, and
Anne Hallett, 22. Wallaroo Mines bowlers Les Hughes and
Lance Cross win the association section of the state fours and
will compete in Adelaide. Paskeville A grade cricketer Bob
Ward, who gave up the gloves this season, takes bowling hon-
ours with 3/33. SYP A grade tennis, P. Maywald (Bagnell’s
Well) d L. Diprose (Warooka) 6-4; B. Braund (Edithburgh) d
S. Gutsche (Oaklands) 6-5. Snowtown Area School to farewell
Mr Walton and Mr Ewens; Lions Incentive Award winner is
Louise Dohnt. Moonta lawn bowler George Przibilla is pre-
sented with a Super Veteran Badge.

Anthony “Muscles” Spry d Kadina Red’s Rob Butcher 6-0. Port
Broughton Area School prize winners are Narelle Arbon, Kylie
Wilson, Bianca Schuller and Anna Roberts. Sharon Kennett,
of Wallaroo, to celebrate her 21st birthday on January 18.
Kadina student Lillian Allen is nominated by the Rotary Club
of Kadina to attend the CRA National Science Summer School
in Canberra. Luke Dutschke, of Balgowan, places his order
with Father Christmas in Maitland on Christmas Eve. SYP
entertainers Barbara Natt, Joan Sheridan, Connie Bramley
and June Stanton get together at a Stansbury Christmas

JANUARY 2003: Nor wood footballer and former
Yorketown Area School student Matthew Dawes was special
guest speaker at the school’s annual presentation night. Port
Vincent’s marina is one step closer to completion as gulf water
fills the basin. YP cricket team member Robert Montgomery
is named in the SACA u16 team of the year. Cancer survivor
Julie Olsen reads the Survivors’ Roll Call and cuts the ribbon
to start the Relay for Life in Kadina. Diane Wheare’s pianoforte
grade 4 student Jessamy Cane receives a high pass and Jasmine
Oster a credit from the Australian Music Examination Board.
Ardrossan junior golfer Chris Redding hits a personal best
score of 71 o.s./56 net.
